MAGPIE TALES 53
Photograph courtesy Tess Kinkaid Magpie Tales
My new mistress
Picked me up
At a house sale
Where my previous owner
Did not know my worth
My new mistress
Has an eye
For quality and saw
That I am Swarovski
One hundred percent lead
My new mistress
Took me home
And cleaned me up
So now every facet
Sparkles in the candle light
My new mistress
Tells who asks
That I came cheap
As I am no longer
Part of the required pair
My new mistress
Does not know
How my other half
Ended its pepper days
Smashed against a wall
My new mistress
Fills me up
With pure table salt
As I’m turned and shaken
I know I’m loved once more

Love this, B!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite things to do is to find a little treasure, take him home and polish him up! :)
I love your Magpie told from the salt shaker's point of view! Creative!!!
ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile.
ReplyDeleteAaahh Bee. What a tender story. One could replace that shaker with a cleansed soul, and multiply it to infinite, and oh what a happy world we would have.
ReplyDeletep.s. - I left a reply to your comment on my blog since I don't have your email address. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love how this started out simple and ended simply, but that "smashing" second to last stanza was like a great cymbal crash in the midst of a symphony.
ReplyDeleteA salt cellar's life history told in a few well-chosen words.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done. A perfect response to the prompt.
ReplyDeletesmart take...
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I love that poem. Very interesting. If only inanimate objects could talk, what tales they would have to tell! Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove the wonderful viewpoint from the shaker....this is beautiful Bee! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this! I often give inanimate objects feelings. Especially when I am at an antique store or estate sale. I think they are speaking to me : )
ReplyDeleteOr when my husband puts his baseball cap on the Beethoven bust, and I think Beethoven must feel disrespected : )
Wow, you sure wove a lot of drama into your verses!
ReplyDeleteBee,
ReplyDeleteThe new mistress knows how to make a new love feel welcome.

Wonderful magpie!
ReplyDeleteVery creative....I liked your magpie!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, new mistress. I would love to find such a little jewel as I collect salt and pepper shakers of certain types.
ReplyDeleteOh, and friends with creative minds.
Reminds me of Toy Story.. about how thing actually talks and feels..
ReplyDeleteHere is mine at http://www.tingtasy.com/2011/02/collections-of-tings-poetry-tpf108-mask.html if you have the time to read..
Hope to see you around.. *HUG*
great metaphor for life....we all have second (or third or fourth) chances in life.
ReplyDeleteThe week has flown and I haven't found the time to come back and and say thank you to everyone of you for taking the time to come, read and comment. However, I do appreciate you all and like it that you like my contribution which did not start out the way it ended up. I saw a face/mask the first time I looked at the picture and that was the way it was going to go - but brain, pencil and paper took me in a different direction and there you have it!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
That is lovely Bee and very inspired!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute story; it has me smiling on this Saturday when I'm not feeling like smiling.:) This poem is very creative. I have friends who have found incredible bargains like in your poem but it's never happened to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you L>A> Speedwing.
ReplyDeleteJudy I'm so glad you smiled - I like that and I hope you're feeling better today - and smiling!
