Young Woman Picking the Fruit of Knowledge, 1892 by Mary Cassatt
She is distracted
Removed from reality
Pushing her way
Through
Imagined branches
That hinder her progress
Thoughts don`t come
Brain cannot retain
The enormity of
Living
In a world
Where foliage can scratch

This is a truth for many... fear holds them back in the forest of their mind.
ReplyDeleteImagined branches that hinder - we all meet a few of those, I think...
ReplyDeleteMore than we think I'd say
Deleteexcellent take on this image- women do still struggle .
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Some do - more than would like to admit but age for the most part, brings reason!
DeleteNice one.
ReplyDeleteWhere's yours???
DeleteI really love this line "imagined branches that hinder her progress." We meet these obstacles at times in our lives. Beautiful poem here.
ReplyDeleteThose imagined branches can scratch deep ... bt I'm encouraged that she continues to reach out ...
ReplyDeleteShe probably doesn't have a choice!
Deleteoh wow! fantastic! "foliage that can scratch!" and the ground will produce thorns and thistles too! GREAT deeper meaning. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteAll those thorns..........glad you caught the meaning. The title is intended to represent her naivety as the foliage!
DeleteYour blog page has a disconcerting habit of whizzing around like scratchy foliage - I wonder if it does it to others, as well as me?
ReplyDeleteYep - it did it to me too - perhaps it's all your fault, Cad!
DeleteIt does it to me too at times. I think I am about to dismantle it. I have reported it to Google as I reported the Romanian thing only to find that it now wants to know if I want it in Portugese instead!!!
DeleteBee, you've cured the Gremlins! Thank you so much. And you can always go back into the Advance Design Option to have another play with colours, layouts, type faces etc. Hours of fun can be had that way! LOL
DeleteThank YOU so much! Very grateful because I was on the verge of closing the damn thing down totally.
DeleteThere are distractions and difficulties along the way. It can't be that easy to strive for and attain success. Great thoughts Bee!
