I have lived
I have loved
I thought I was
Invincible
But this day
I saw horror
Ingrained for ever
Dachau!
Gentle victims, innocents
You brutally gassed
The devil being your
Master
Now in disbelief
I scrub the rawness
The sickening stench of
Death
I scrub the rawness
The sickening stench of
Death
You never soaped
In this bath
No desire to cleanse
Evil
I already know
What future holds
My spirit is drowned
Numbed
Postscript:
Life is shattered
I cannot love
Drowning atrocities in
Alcohol

Irrespective of whose side one is on, killing and gassing are not acceptable! Resolving conflict resolution will mean taking the conciliatory approach. But to drown one's sorrows through the bottle is also very wrong Great lines Bee!

Ah but she did hit the bottle as her son testified. She suffered from post traumatic stress syndrome which at the time was not recognized. Killing and / or gassing is never acceptable under any circumstances.
DeleteThank you for your comment Kaykuala. As always, much appreciated..
A bottle of Gin and an intolerably hot bath , As Len Deighton would have said ....
ReplyDeleteLet's hear it for Len Deighton. Haven't read anything of his for years!
DeleteI am not Jewish but the treatment those poor people! Women and children, grandparents, being treated as cattle at a slaughterhouse. Hate can be a thing that grows and takes over all good if you are weak and let it.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't bear thinking about. My mother`s Jewish friends and acquaintances disappeared overnight. She said it was a terrible time
DeleteIt was a dreadful time for all involved, and after it was over. You would have thought the war mongers and the would be world controllers would have learnt by it. Power hunger and a greed for money is destroying our world and the people who live in it.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Bee.
You would think do but we people do not learn. Ethnic cleansing continues today.
DeleteThese atrocities certainly will cling on forever. No amount of cleansing with anything will work!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. My mother didn't talk about it for years.
Deletewe must never forget.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely right.
