Now that I'm grown up
And know the world
Walking through water
Is so different
To when I was
A child
Then it was splashing fun
Carefree and innocent
Jumping in glee
Now I feel
The wading weight
Of loss

I know that feeling too well my friend. Beautiful indeed.
ReplyDeleteDear Bee,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sweet comment! When I saw Tess' image last Sunday I also sensed sadness and loss in the young woman's body language. Nice writing.
Bee, thank you for visiting my blog - after a long time! Our blogging lives have lost some of the old impetus I feel. I used to post so much more frequently.
ReplyDeleteI love this poem. It so exactly conveys both experiences of joy and loss of playfulness as we age...
You're very welcome Shaista. I agree with you regarding our blogging lives. Sometimes, events get in the way and before we know where we are something that so much part of us has dwindled. I am determined to rekindle that verve I once had! I like that you like the poem - even putting a stanza together has eluded me over the last few months.
DeleteVery good. I was too busy last week to do one for this image or to read yours. It is a treasure even if unlocked late.
ReplyDeleteThannks for this
