I told the truth.
It opened a can of worms.
People don't always like to hear the truth.
The person the truth affected didn't like what I had to say.
So now apparently I am a liar. Oh not in those words but other words with a gloss.
Perhaps I should have kept my mouth shut.
But I didn't - after twenty plus years I said what I had to say.
I've lost a friend who was never a friend anyway.
I stand by what I say and I sleep at night..
Oh, we are so much alike, Bee. I seem to be constantly damned for telling the truth and yet I find it so intensely hard to keep my mouth shut.
ReplyDeleteBut if you cannot tell your friends the truth who can you tell? And if they will not hear the truth from a friend they are very much in denial. But sometimes the truth takes time to digest. They may hear it down the road a piece.
Stuff like this always takes me back to the prophetic words of the theme song for the sitcom Empty Nest ... at least the first two lines:
ReplyDeleteLIFE GOES ON AND SO DO WE
JUST HOW WE DO IT IS NO MYSTERY...
That's my take on it Barbie
be blessed!
