The Etcher's Prayer

Magpie 128

Yes
She's gone
So
That is why
I gave you
Her boot
To chew
But you didn't
And
That is why
I
Etched on the wall
My hope that
She'll
Be back
Meanwhile
The plant has died

  2. Pity he attempted to comfort the dog and himself, but not the plant. I wonder what she'll say if she returns! Well done.

  17. I've been so remiss and inconsistent with my visiting these past several weeks. I just saw your foul weather pictures in an earlier post, and enjoyed to other Magpie interpretations. This one I especilly like. It just conversationally tells it the way it is. The dog clearly understans the great loss. Someday his human will want that boot again. The plant - well, nothing is perfect in life.

    1. It;s nice to see you here Annie. Thank you. I'm glad you liked the Olympics opening ceremony. I did too and I thought the mills rising was simply great. Essentially very British and somewhat quirky with plenty of humour. We British know how to laugh at ourselves!

  18. P.S. Love the Olympics header. I really enjoyed the opening. I know it was criticized but history buff that I am, I enjoyed the transistions from one era to another and the music was terrific.
