Nothingness

MAGPIE 123

Summer Night, Albert Bloch, 1913
Photograph courtesy Tess Kinkaid, Magpie Tales

I saw you
Among those people
Not ordinary people
Like you and me

I called you
You didn't hear
Maybe you pretended
That you didn't see

I reached out
To touch you
You didn't move
To take my hand

You stood there
Cold and distant
Yet perfectly smooth
Cobalt blue crystal

I cried out
Called your name
My pillow's wet
From dreaming tears

  1. Sometimes dreams are so elusive, aren't they? You have captured that sensation so vividly here, Bee. The ethereal sense of dreams certainly works well with this prompt. Thanks for sharing your dreamy thinking.

    1. Yes they are. When I first saw it I thought 'crystal' so have added another stanza!

  2. They have that ghostly/dreamlike sheen to them don't they? I like the sense of sadness you have invoked here.

    1. Yes. It was a sad dream and it's nice that you caught that.

  3. Yes, they are ghosts and you brought that forward with subtlety. Very nice.

  5. Dreams like that are so unsettling. I hope your dreams are usually sweeter:-)
